That support was also shaken like a mechanical bull positioned on a fault line after EA and the developer of Dead Space, Visceral Games announced Battlefield Hardline, the next game in the popular franchise that’s set to bring cops versus criminals online play to gamers later this year. The announcement led many gamers to ask what that meant for DICE’s Battlefield 4 title and the current bugs that still plague it (that have even led to lawsuits from EA’s investors), concerns that will only be voiced with more force as more is revealed about Battlefield Hardline at E3. But now, in a move to silence doubters, DICE has now promised to continue Battlefield 4 support for some time yet.

Battlefield fans are perhaps right to to be concerned given that the scope of Battlefield Hardline sees it having great potential for replayability, customization, large-scale multiplayer and versions on both last and current gen machines and so despite the fact that “the Visceral team is leading development of Hardline,” DICE has been working on that game in some capacity for “several years" as well.

According to Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE VP & Group GM, his team is “also working on a major update to the Battlefield 4 netcode.” That netcode is believed to be a root cause of the a large handful of Battlefield 4 glitches and so Troedsson also says,

Furthermore, Troedsson reiterated that the Squad Join, Rent-A-Server and Loadout Presets features are on the way as requested by the community, whilst also mentioning that “this trend will continue” suggesting that there is even more room for player requested features to make their way in the game.

However, with all of this new content being worked on, as well as existing bugs and glitches, you must wonder how far the DICE team will continue to sidestep the initial promise that they made to fix all of Battlefield 4’s problems before they release new DLC. That promise didn’t hold up and so despite Troedsson’s words, little faith and trust may be put in the team and so once again, as proven with the latest Battlefield game up until this point, it may be a case of just biding our time and seeing how it all pans out.
