Created by 3D artist and game designer Mike Wilson this latest reimagining of Regina is intended as a character study for the artist’s personal portfolio of modeled characters. While the result of the study is impressive, Wilson doesn’t appear to have any intention to go much farther with Dino Crisis in the form of a full remake of any levels or the full game as a whole.

Wilson shared this new design in the form of several images, as well as an impressive video that gives a full 360 view of Regina along with close-ups and a few simple animations. The character model and video were created using Unreal Engine 5 to give this version of Regina the most modern look possible thanks to the strength of the engine. If expanded to the rest of Dino Crisis, Unreal Engine 5 could make for an impressive looking remake if either Capcom or another fan wanted to look at updating the game as a whole.
With several players still hoping that the success of the recent Resident Evil remakes leading to Dino Crisis getting the same treatment, Unreal Engine 5 could be a strong choice for how to bring the classic title to modern gaming. However, an official remake would likely use an in-house tool like the RE Engine, meaning that an Unreal Engine 5 version would have to be run by fans like Wilson. For now, though, this latest character demo of Regina might be able to scratch that itch from fans until either someone else is inspired to work on their own remake or Capcom decides to invest in this type of project.
Seeing what fans like Wilson can do with classic characters like Regina, this newest piece shows what the latest game engines can do to reimagine older titles. Everything from Legend of Zelda to Skyrim are being remade in Unreal Engine 5 in ways that only fans can address these classics, since developers are more often focusing forward. However, with some luck the success of this Regina reimagining could lead to Capcom taking a look at the possibility of bringing Dino Crisis into the modern era of gaming.
